Hera DSK Files ============================================================================= This "aareadme.txt" file describes the contents of the kernels/dsk directory of the Hera SPICE Kernel Dataset. It also provides the file naming conventions used for the Hera DSK kernels. It was last modified on November 14, 2022 by Alfredo Escalante Lopez, ESAC/ESA. Brief Summary ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- This directory contains the SPICE Digital Shape-Kernel files for Hera S/C and target bodies. Particularly, it contains data for the following bodies: Name NAIF ID ------------------- --------- DIDYMOS -658030 DIMORPHOS -658031 File naming conventions ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- The naming scheme for the Natural Bodies DSKs is: TYPE_MM_DER_obj_BODY_N_vNN.bds where TYPE type: g for global l for local MM average size of facet (or ground sample distance) in mm. DER derivation: rad for derived from radar spc for derived from spc lgt for deried from light curve BODY body name: didy for Didymos dimo for Dimorphos N global model center - first four digits are latitude to 2 decimal points; last three digits are longitude to two decimal points. VV version: v01, v02, v03 ... bds extension: .bds The naming scheme for the Hera S/C DSKs is: hera_SC_BODY_vNN.bds where SC spacecraft: hera for Hera. BODY body: bus for S/C Bus, hga for High Gain Antenna and sa-/+z for Solar Array -/+Z Panel. NN version: v01, v02, v03 ... bds extension: .bds Current DSK Kernels Set ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- g_50677mm_rad_obj_didy_0000n00000_v001.bds Contains the Didymain shape model from as provided in [2]. Created by the ESA SPICE Service. g_08438mm_lgt_obj_dimo_0000n00000_v002.bds Contains the Didymoon shape model ellipsoid as provided in [2]. Created by the ESA SPICE Service. g_00250mm_spc_obj_dimo_0000n00000_v003.bds Contains the Dimorphos shape model based on DRACO images [3]. Created by the ESA SPICE Service. Kernel File Details ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- The contents of any DSK file may be easily determined using the 'dskbrief' utility program, Example: % dskbrief Descriptive information about how/why/when an DSK file was created is usually available in the 'comment area' of the file. This may be viewed using the 'commnt' utility program available in all copies of the SPICE Toolkit. Use the '-r' option to read the comments. Example: % commnt -r All binary DSK files (*.bds) contained in this directory are little-endian (LTL-IEEE) binary files.
